mTw through after FX victory

mTw have joined fnatic in the IEM5 final after a 2-1 victory over Frag eXecutors.

mTw are the second finalist at the IEM5 European Championship after winning de_nuke and de_inferno, sandwiched by FX's victory on de_train. On de_nuke, the first of the three maps, mTw, who started off on the defensive side, managed to get a short advantage over their opponents, being up 9-6 at the interval.

The second half was opened by a fast mTw rush from the ramps into the lower bombsite, which was almost won by Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński as he killed two players after being left alone on a 1-on-3 situation. The Danish team bagged the next two rounds, after which FX got back into the game, winning three rounds in a row to reduce the deficit. The rest of the half went both ways, with FX coming from behind to set the score at 14-14. In what looked like a desperate Desert Eagle eco, mTw rushed inner bombsite and killed four FX players, getting a map point, but in the last round the Polish side leveled the match, taking the game to overtime.

In OT, Frag eXecutors, conquered a narrow 3-2 lead on the CT side, but mTw showed a better defensive setup, picking up four rounds as they walked out 21-1 winners on the map.

mTw hope for gold against fnatic

de_train was the map that followed, and many thought that the Danes had this in the bag after winning the knife round and choosing to start as CT. And the truth was that mTw matched their expectations as the Danes found themselves leading by five rounds at the end of the first half. However, Frag eXecutors did not lower their heads and kept pushing until they managed a 16-14 victory to take the game to a third map.

The first half of de_infern was a really close affair, with the teams almost taking turns to win rounds as the scoreboard showed 8-7 in favour of Frag eXecutors. In the second half, a flying start from FX earned them a total of five rounds to become just three rounds away from victory, but then mTw's composure proved to be determined. The Danish team started winning several rounds in a row and equalised the match on 13 rounds. The last rounds of the match were absolutely not appropriate for people with heart problems, with mTw sealing a 16-14 victory to secure passage into the Grand Final.
